February birthdays in the Buzzy family are as follows: Tommy Cullison and Roy Norris on the 4th, Lisa Mercure the 5th, Jennifer Adkins the 6th, Linda Lepper the 10th, Martin “Mole” Morris the 11th, Cheryl Krumpke the 14th, Cousin Lorraine Teefey the 17th, Chris McKay and my nephew JC Hofmeister on the 19th, Pat Stover the 20th, my Father-in-law Sol Aroesty on the 21st, and my nephew Stephen Taylor on the 27th.
Me and Abe celebrate on the 12th. I always tell folks that Abe and I have a lot in common – tall, rugged looks, honest and I too once had a bad experience at Ford’s Theater.
But jokes aside, Abe and I do have something in common – did you know that young Abe also worked in a country store? In fact, that is where the Honest Abe nickname originated. Legend has it that when working in the store and discovering that he had overcharged a customer, Abe walked several miles to return the money to the customer (click here.) Like to think that I would do the same today – only I wouldn’t walk, I’d drive my truck to the customer’s home!
