Because I know it so well from time spent “in the rooms” I regard the Serenity Prayer as probably the best prayer ever written.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, And wisdom to know the difference.
(Its author an American theologian Reinhold Niebuhr is worth reading about also.)
That said, this would be my nomination for the second best prayer ever written:
Dear Lord,
So far today I am doing all right. I have not gossiped, lost my temper, been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish, or over-indulgent. However, I am going to get out of bed in a few minutes, and I will need a lot more help after that.
Wasn’t able to ascertain its origins but here is a nice little discussion about it (click here.) Author also talks about the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit. Yeah, it’s always Seven Something isn’t it?!
Don’t do many (any) Christian songs here on the Buzzyblog but here’s a nice one if you’re in the mood. If not, come back tomorrow and we’ll do some AC/DC.
