As I mentioned earlier in the month I have been thinking about Elton John’s Madman Across the Water quite frequently these past couple weeks due to political matters at hand.
But then just the other day I heard Amoreena played on Classic Rock and it got me thinking just how great Elton was when he first hit the scene. Later on in his career he would turn into a Liberace-kind-of-joke with all the hats, boa’s and glam crap going on but early Elton was great. Tumbleweed Connection remains one of my favorite albums. I remember seeing him the one and only time I ever went to the Baltimore Civic Center for a concert and he put on a great show.
Amoreena is about a young guy longing to be with his girl who is far away from him. How someone chose it to be the opening tune to the movie Dog Day Afternoon is still a mystery (click here.) However, as you can see here, it works.
