The Madonna quote the other day reminded me of something Huey Lewis said about one of his signature songs. First, here’s what Madonna said:
Mike Raley and I saw Huey at Wolfe Trap in 2016. When it came time for him to play Power of Love, Huey introduced it by saying that when they first recorded it in 1985 they knew that they had a pretty good song. However, he continued saying that what they didn’t know in 1985 was that they were going to have to play it every f’ing night for the next 30 years.

Power of Love was nominated for an Academy Award for its inclusion in the movie Back to the Future. It lost out to Lionel Ritchie’s Say You, Say Me from White Nights.
