Everytime I would run into my friend Steve Hawkins he would remind me to look for pictures of his brother Bert aka The Govnah. (I think his nickname may have started off as “The Governor” but it always got pronounced The Govnah.) I’ve been thru Buzzy’s photo collection a couple times now and have found but one photo of The Govnah but it’s not too clear.
I mentioned this mission to some folks in Buzzy’s Country Store one day and Linda Lepper subsequently brought me this shot of The Govnah. This is a classic shot of him relaxing at a party with a beer in hand, looking sharp and taking in the sights.
I made a couple copies of the photo, one of which Kim Wiley framed and took to Brother Steve. I phoned Steve to tell him it took awhile but as they say “Good things come to those who are patient.” Somewhere, I like to think that The Govnah is smiling.
