Rusty and Buzzy

Rusty Tarleton passed away at the young age of 55 earlier this week.  To read his obit (click here.)

I have discussed previously how Rusty was one of the three firemen photographed on the roof of Buzzy’s Country Store helping to put out the fire that occurred in 1983 (click here.)  The other two firemen were Tommy Blazer and Rick Corcoran.

It was fitting then that 25 years later, Rusty was one of the first to greet us when Buzzy became a resident of Chesapeake Shores Nursing Home in 2008.  Rusty recounted to us how his first day working at the nursing home was the very next morning after he had helped all night long to put out the fire at the Store in 1983.

And then another Buzzy/Rusty connection occurred in November of 2008 when they were both inducted into Chesapeake Shores’ Hall of Fame.  Rusty skipped the actual ceremony and party held that evening but nevertheless he and Buzzy were inducted along with Dr. Jarboe and Nazarene Brown.

At Rusty’s funeral Friday, Tommy Blazer and Rick Corcoran served as two of his pall bearers.
