In Juneau, Alaska’s State Capitol, we visited the famous Red Dog Saloon.
The Red Dog’s biggest claim to fame is Wyatt Earp’s gun located behind their bar with the following proclamation:
Next door to the Red Dog, they have their souvenir shop
You can buy just about anything and it will have Red Dog Saloon imprinted on it.
I bought a bottle opener that I have since mounted somewhere in Buzzy’s Country Store. Free beer/drink to anyone who can find it.
Like many of the other tourist things I encountered in Alaska you do not get the feeling that you are a tourist being “fleeced and released” which was always Buzzy’s mantra. Granted, the Red Dog IS a tourist trap but it was still a fun stop to have made. This video gives you a better idea what it’s all about.
