As I was making change for her at Buzzy’s Country Store, a very nice lady named Barb asked me how I managed to have a Mike and the Moonpies hat. She went on to say that she was from College Station, Texas and that she not only knew of the band but also was friends with one of the band members’ Mom.
I informed Barb that I was friends of one of the band member’s Father (John Carbone) and that his son John had recently sent me the hat. We both laughed as we simultaneously commented “Small world isn’t it?”

John’s Dad also gave me a copy of their newest album “Steak Night at the Prairie Rose” which I’ve been enjoying listening to particularly the title song. It is a classic Father-Son story that tells a great story, has a nice play on words at its conclusion and even sometimes can bring a little tear to my eye whenever I listen to it. Great story, great song, and just what good music is all about.
