Let me catch you up on some recent birthday celebrations at Buzzy’s Country Store.
On 22 August Louise Mann celebrated her birthday by inviting her Mattingly family members to join her at Buzzy’s. As seen in the photo here, her Mom, brothers, nephew, brother-in-law and that Energizer Rabbit Charlie Simms joined her and her husband Bob to do just that.

The next day, Bob told me that Louise’s bar bill for the evening was a little steep. I asked him if the local boys ran her tab up more than they should have. Bob responded that the local boys were fine in that they got their one-and-done-beer like they were supposed to do so. Bob said “But it was her family members who kept adding to her tab.” However, he noted, it was all good and that everyone had a great time.
Speaking of something great, isn’t it cool to see Mrs. Billie Mattingly (96) and Charlie (92) hanging and partying like they are? They are two of the more amazing Nonagenarians around and I always consider it a great honor to have them in Buzzy’s.
Just last Saturday Buzzy’s hosted another great birthday celebration as Bernie Trossbach brought a busload of folks from the Second District down to the Store as part of her 70th b’day party. Here are some photos:
They started off at Betty Russell’s earlier in the day, stopped at the Brass Rail and then motored South to Buzzy’s. From Buzzy’s they settled in at the Ridge American Legion where Bernie’s Grandson Robbie Boothe played some jams for them into the night.
