| Amelia, Her Son Jackson and Dad Terry in Buzzy’s Country Store on 29 Jan 1917 |
Because she is in the Coast Guard and I am FB friends with her, Amelia (Madjeski) Ray has been on my mind a lot these past couple weeks. Every time I heard mention of Trump’s stupid shutdown and how it was negatively impacting the 800,000 furloughed government employees, I thought of Amelia who is currently stationed in Louisiana. My heart bled for her even more when I saw her post things like the following on her FB page:
Thus, I was very glad to see her post this just yesterday:
Congratulations on your 10 years Amelia! And thank you for your service! Here’s hoping that there are no more shutdowns in your, or for that matter anyone’s future!
P.S. When I went looking for the photo above of Amelia, Jackson and Terry to include here, I had no idea of when I took it. As thumbed back through my cell phone photos and finally found it, I couldn’t believe it when I saw the date I took it was 29 Jan 2017. Pretty cool coincidence that I’m using it today wouldn’t you say? Everything happens for a reason.
Upbeat boating song here seems appropriate for a Coast Guard Lady:
