Seneca/Poole's/Allnutt's Store

A recent article in the Washington Post discussed Montgomery County’s efforts to restore and preserve an old general store in Seneca, Md (click here.)  Excerpt follows: 

If you read the comments posted after the article you will see that not everyone thinks this was money well spent.  An example follows:

The origins of the current store go back to a building located on the C&O Canal that was operated by Frederick Allnutt.  (Be sure to check out the 3 dudes posing on its front porch in the following photo.  I’m betting Allnutt is the one with his hand on his hip.)

After frequent flooding from the canal’s waters, in 1901 Allnutt built a new store at its current location.

Montgomery County is currently looking for someone to run the renovated store.  This letter to the Washington Post had a good suggestion:
