WHAT?

Couldn’t believe it when it was first talked about a couple weeks ago.  You know how rumors get out there and spread around.  Back then, I thought it was all just idle talk.

But now that it’s hit, I am still having a hard time processing it.  Nothing about it seems logical nor right.

Of course you know I am talking about Tom Brady leaving the Pats and supposedly heading south to become a Buccaneer.  (Quick aside for a stupid joke.  Question – how much should a pirate pay to get his ears pierced?  Answer – figure it out for yourself.)

But back to the strange times we live in.  Note that I have always rooted against Brady and the Patriots.  That said though, I have always respected him and their accomplishments in a time when the NFL has tried its best to ensure parity among all teams.  Brady, after all he has done for the Patriots, finishing out his storied career with another team is just not the way it should all end.

It reminds me of my first sports hero Johnny Unitas finishing out his career as a San Diego Charger.  That wasn’t right either.

Best line in the following video is at the 12:00 mark when they note:  “The irony of age had finally caught up with John Unitas.  While his mind and his instinct for the game were at their peak, his body was unable to do its part.”  Johnny U was 40 years old when he ended his career with the Chargers.

Who knows, maybe Brady, like Peyton did with the Broncos, has another championship run left in him. However, I’m thinking that all this doesn’t end well for the GOAT.  You can only be great for so long.  Remember, I’m talking football now right?
