Happy Easter! Go Find Your Peace and Meaning!

The FB page devoted to all things Thomas Merton (click here) had this as one of their Easter-related posts: 

It was good, but when I consulted my Merton book Daily Meditations I found this Easter message from him:

Seems that Brother Merton, the monastic that he was, had little use for all the pomp and ceremony that throttles much of the Catholic Easter liturgical shenanigans. (Also, note how he objects to the tokenism of having the Mexican carrying the train up the aisle.)  Note too, that it was later in his day when he went to the lake that he found his Easter peace and meaning.
