Someone requested that I discuss the history of Scotland here on the Buzzyblog. However, when it comes to doing historical research on matters like that, it is not really in my wheelhouse. I don’t mind doing some research on a subject that interests me, however I am far too lazy to do too much. Also, remember that you are here on the Buzzyblog – home of country stores, booze, b.s. and rock and roll. Everything else is in the back seat including historical introspections.
But given that Scotland is my hometown and Buzzy’s Country Store address, this Bud Light is for you my friend. Here then is Wiki’s official take on Scotland. (Note the mention of Tubby Smith as our most Notable Person. Also, be sure to check out the Scotland in Montgomery County and its complicated history.)
As for how our Scotland came to be named, the story I heard is that a contingency of Scottish immigrants settled here and liked it so much that they stayed. Being at the end of the line so to speak, they appreciated that no one would bother them and hence carved out this neck of the woods to call it home. Paying respect to their Motherland back in the U.K., they named their new digs Scotland.
And that’s all I got so how about some Scottish-based music for you from the Pastels:
