Speaking of Andy Willaims (yesterday’s Buzzyblog tune) I am the proud owner of his greatest hits CD. Reason why I say proud owner is not because this in and of itself is such a big deal, but because the CD was one my Mom owned and enjoyed listening to. Needless to say she was a big Andy fan and I always think of her when one of his tunes comes up on my random play list.
As for how Andy’s Mom plays into all this, listen to his introduction here setting up his movie medley. (Wait for the Walter Brennan reference.)
Andy, the crooner that he was, did not rock and roll. (He did do a cover of “Abraham, Martin and John” but that’s not rock n roll. I don’t know what it is, but I know it’s not what I call R&R.) That said however, Andy did have rock and rollers on his TV show as witnessed here with Mr. Rock n Roll Himself Little Richard making an appearance.
