My friend Lois Williams loaned me the following book written by Amos Arthur Holmes.

It’s a quick read and after I had done so, I did some internetting to find that his Granddaughter Jill Coleman has put this excellent website together on Amos and his works (click here.)
I spent the better part of yesterday ignoring the eclipse for the most part, but enjoying reading thru Amos’ many columns that he wrote thru the years. He was a longtime columnist in our local newspapers and each week found something interesting and funny to say about any number of subjects. Amos was doing the Seinfeldian-observational-humor-about-nothing long before it became such a big deal to do so.
With it being a Twofer Tuesday here on the Buzzyblog, I am passing along one of Amos’ poems from Old Fashioned Poetry and one of his columns from the website. (I selected this column for no particular reason other than I was able to easily copy and include it here. If you have any difficulty reading it, click on the link below and that will allow you to enlarge it some.)

His poems are short (two stanzas) and funny little takes on life. Here is one sample where not only Jill but all three of his Grandkids make an appearance::

Music wise, caught the Elton/Bernie special last night. And while Joni is getting rave reviews for her performance of I’m Still Standing (click here) for my money, Metallica knocked it out of the park and then some. (Note if you don’t have 9 minutes to spend on it, go to about the 6:30 mark and catch the end to see what I’m talking about. Whew!
