Swift Travels

As I looked for the Dublin photo used in yesterdays’ Buzzyblog post, I found the following pics of what I call “Gulliver scenes” that I saw on an office building located near St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Jonathan Swift served as the Dean of St. Patrick’s for a number of years and is buried there.

The two times that I tried to visit St. Patrick’s and say hello/goodbye to Jonathan, it was closed. The first time I was too early because the Cathedral was not yet opened; and when I went back later in the day it was closed for a private event. I did manage to find the following photo online however showing what I missed seeing in person:

Note that Swift, per his request, is buried next to Stella, a lady he was said to have had “a close but ambiguous relationship” with. (Supposedly they were married but kept it a secret and lived apart before she died in 1728 at the age of 46 (click here.)

Not sure where I am going with all this other than to pass along these photos and mention my failed attempts to put another famous grave site on my list of Dead People Visited. Thus, I will conclude with telling you about a marketing call that I received the other day while minding Buzzy’s Country Store. After the fella on the phone said that he wanted to sell me a coffin, I told him “That’s the last thing I need.” (Ok, when it comes to satire, I confess, I’m not that Swift.)

Music-wise, how about something here from that other Swift? And yes, I was surprised at how much I liked it. Maybe she’s got something to say after all.
