I know that the above reference is probably one you won’t even begin to get, so let me explain it.
The lyric “Saturday in the Park” is from Chicago’s tune which I have embedded below. I am paraphrasing it today, Saturday, because I am about to discuss the former town Jarboesville as described by Father Johnson in his Good News About Citizens,Towns and Villages of St. Mary’s booklet. Hence, Saturday in Jarboesville. (Ok, like a bad joke, if one has to explain it, that means that it was a little on the lame side to begin with. I plead guilty on all counts.)
But check out what Father had to say about Jarboesville and how it kinda came and went only to morph into Lexington Park. Ironic to note that the area(s) he discusses herein are currently being razed and demo’d to make way for a Royal Farms convenience store. Guess that putting back a country store was never an option.

I believe, but am not certain that the southwest corner of the intersection that Father mentions was also the location of Hiram Millison’s Store that I have mentioned previously here on the Buzzyblog (click here.) In 2011, Ken Rossingol did an excellent article on the Millison family and their stores that you can read by clicking here.
And for your Saturday musical fix, as promised here is the Saturday in the Park tune. As you listen along try substituting “Saturday in Jarboesville” just for fun. I know, it doesn’t quite work but still……..
Buzzy’s will be open and ready to assist you in surviving the excessive heat warnings being projected for today. The advice for handling the heat should be “Go to Buzzy’s, sit in the a/c and drink plenty of fluids.” See you later.
