Some genuine “Inside Baseball talk” for you today. Those of you who are not a baseball fan may want to cut and run because this Bud is not for you.
A recent visitor to Buzzy’s Country Store, took note of my Orioles shirt, and informed me that he was a big fan of Anthony Santander. As we talked about what a great year Santander is having, my visitor said “Hard to believe that he was a Rule 5 player.”
I had to confess that I did not know what or who a Rule 5 player was. He then tried explaining it to me.
Not that I doubted his explanation, but later, after he left and I was able to do so, I hit the www and found this on Wiki:

Santander was initially signed by the then Indians (now Guardians) in 2011. He knocked around their minor leagues for 5 years before the Orioles drafted him in 2016 Rule Five Draft. Again, there is this from Wiki:

Musically, here is a colorful tune/video from Maroon 5. Like Santander, they began their careers at a young age starting out as a high school band named Kara’s Flowers. They then putzed around for several years before hitting it big in 2002 with the release of their debut album “Songs About Jane.” Proves AC/DC’s observation that it’s a long way to the top if you want to rock and roll, or in Santander’s case – play Major League Baseball.
