I purposely waited a day to do this movie review because I wanted to let my initial thoughts marinate for awhile before attempting to do so.
On Monday afternoon, Pam and I caught the movie Conclave at the R/C Theaters located across from Wildewood Shopping Center. We had seen the ads for Conclave and with actors such as Ray Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow and Isabella Rossellini appearing in it, put it on our “Go see” list.
Here is the movie’s trailer that we saw on T-V. (Be sure to check out Cardinal Lawrence (Fiennes) and his take on why we should fear the sin of certainty at the (1:58 mark.))
The following is from an IMDB review:
P.S. You don’t have to be a Catholic to appreciate the subtle humor that is included throughout the movie. Surprised myself at how many times, the movie made me smile and laugh at some of the comments made about several matters dealing with faith and other issues. Great movie. Still think so a couple days later after seeing it.
If I had one quibble with it, the movie’s musical score didn’t appeal to me. Keep in mind that the theaters now have all these mega speakers that amplify the hell out things. So when the dramatic stuff cranks up on screen, the music really cranks up. Because Conclave is full of dramatic scenes, I found the sound track a little annoying. Really, sounding like a cranky old dude eh? Thought Paul’s “Live and Let Die” would have been a good addition in some of Conclave’s scenes.
