Cringe Time

When it comes to comedy and jokes, it takes alot for me to say or think “Hey, that one was a little too skeezy.” For example, remember the infamous Beatles’ Dead Babies/Butcher album cover? Well, that never bothered me. I got the humor in it and didn’t really see what the subsequent churn was all about. The only impact on me was that it did make me try to peel off my “Yesterday and Today” album cover to see if I had one of the original covers that Capital Records first issued (click here.)

Another infamous comedy controversy centered on the joke about “The Aristocrats.” I tried watching the documentary movie made about this lame joke and still wasn’t impressed nor grossed out by it. As I said above, it takes alot to really move my cringe-needle.

As for a third example, and out of semi-respect for our current President, I won’t even begin to address the whole Kathy Griffin/Trump Severed Head stunt. (However, please note that that didn’t even come close to offending me nor my comedic sensibilities. In fact, I thought it was pretty damn clever as in – did someone say cleaver?

Ok, with my having said all that, just to prove that I do have some small sense of comedic cringe boundaries, check out the following SNL skit from last week’s show. It made me stop, shake my head and say “Uh, this is not good.” See what you think:

Only one song to play here right? (The stuff goes down at the 7:00 mark.)

Update on the Buzzy Snirt Pile Pool, thanks to Brian Barnhill, we have drawn up a pool and are ready to go. However, with today’s 50+ temps and rain projected for all day, we’re going to wait and see how the snirt pile does or doesn’t shrink before proceeding with the pool. Stay tuned for more details.

As for the Buzzy Friendly Super Bowl Pool, it is filling up quickly. Folks are already asking if we’ll have second pool for the game, but I’m thinking that one is enough. Reminds me of the non-cringe joke – What historic figure first said “Enough is enough?” Answer: Mediocrates.
