For some reason, the Paul Simon line “all my words come back to me in shades of mediocrity” often runs through my mind whenever I re-read some of my previous posts that I wrote here on the Buzzyblog from many years ago.
It happened just the other day when I re-posted the 76 St. Patty’s day photo and account of Brother Steve and company partying on Buzzy’s front porch. Upon further review of that original post, I noticed that I had failed to identify them.
I recall initially making a comment in that original post about all 5 fellas in the photo having nicknames: El-Chucko, Bobby D, Winkie, Bonehead and Busser. However, I purposely omitted saying that because my Mom was still alive at the time and I knew that she never cared for Brother Steve’s “Bonehead” nickname. (Somewhere, she’s probably tsk’ing me right now.)
When I went looking for the source of that Simon line from the tune “Homeward Bound” I landed on the following. Note that this is from his and George’s SNL joint appearance in 1976. (George probably felt right at home playing and singing along side some dude named Paul.)
