In 1945 my Grandparents Anna and Harry Raley purchased a country store located in Scotland, Maryland from Mike and Anne Shuman.

I mention this because my sisters Donna and Lila and I discuss them and their ownership of the store in the next Buzzy Podcast set for tomorrow. (See how I slipped that podcast plug in there?!)

Thanks to a 2007 title search done by my friend Mike Whitson, recorded deeds show that Anna and Harry purchased the store in September 1945. However, less than a year later, a subsequent deed reflects Harry paying Anna $2,500 for her interest in the store because “unfortunate differences have arisen between the parties which renders it inadvisable for them to further continue to live together…”

A couple of years later they got back together and Anna moved back in. However, no deed was done to reflect that move; and I don’t know if Anna ever paid Harry back the $2,500 she got from him when she first moved out in 1946.
As for the rest of the story, tune in tomorrow to catch the latest Buzzy Podcast.
And speaking of sisters, here is a nice tune I Shazammed from the T-V show Better Sister.
