Yeah, it was one of those MSN clickbait items, but I hit on it anyway:

After I clicked the link, I scanned the article to catch Bruce quoted as follows:

Actually, I wasn’t interested in learning how Bruce came to write the song as I pretty much already knew that background story. What suckered me in was the “how it saved his career” statement. Huh?
As I recall, “Born to Run” was his very first hit and it served to launch his career, not to save it. Tough to save something that doesn’t need saving don’t you think? (The link did contain some mumbo jumbo about the record company being worried about Bruce’s album sales and his future. So who knows?)
Wiki had this to say about it:

You know Bruce’s take, so let’s check out how Allan’s sounded:
St. Peter Claver’s Pre-Labor Day Festival is today 11:30 – 6:00.

Should you travel that far south to check it out, go another mile or two and drop in for Buzzy’s Country Store weekly Sunday festival. Buzzy’s will also be open tomorrow to assist you in observing your Labor Day festivities by knocking back a few. Just think, our last Sunday without NFL action until February 2026.
