This past Saturday morning at Buzzy’s Country Store during the first hour that I had opened, a trio of visitors and friends dropped in. Collectively, they typify my friends and visitors who stop in Buzzy’s: one was local, two were looking for something to purchase (in this case bait,) and the third just wanted to check Buzzy’s out.
As I was rolling in, my friend Keith Raley was about to leave. I motioned for him to come on in as I opened the Store. Keith often drops in on Saturday mornings to talk baseball in general and the Orioles in particular.
As Keith and I were discussing how pathetic the O’s have been this season, a couple guys rolled in looking for bait. They wanted two dozen blood worms and two dozen night crawlers which is a lot of bait. When I asked them if they were sure they needed all that bait, they informed me that they were meeting up with some friends and planned to fish all day down at the State Park. I made the sale and went back to talking with Keith about minor league prospects in the Orioles’ farm system.
It was then that my third set of visitors dropped in. Shown here are Ashley, Sophia and Max after they had purchased several hats, shirts and snacks inside.

Ashley told me how she had been down to Pt. Lookout State Park Friday afternoon with her daughter Sophia and nephew Max. She noted that as she headed back up the road and saw the Buzzy parking lot was full, she debated stopping in but opted not to do so.
Ashley then returned Saturday morning to check Buzzy’s out. Turns out that she and her husband are from Massachusetts and are visiting the area so that he could assist his brother in conducting a soccer camp in Calvert County. Their son is participating in the camp. Ashley is freed up during the day to sight see and visit places like Pt. Lookout State Park. I’m glad that Ashley elected to come back and visit Buzzy’s. My thanks to her, Sophia and Max for doing so.
Note that all these three visits occurred earlier during the day when Buzzy’s continues to be a country store. Moving into the afternoon hours however, Buzzy’s then becomes more of bar and you know what all that entails.
Music-wise, having binge watched Billy Bob’s “Landman” where most the music is a little on the bluesy/down side, this upbeat one did catch my ear:
