Speaking of visitors to Buzzy’s and them making a return visit, (yesterday’s post about Tim Reid) another one happened just last week.
This great photo of Buzzy’s Country Store was presented to me from John Whitman (photo of him below) on his second visit to Buzzy’s.

John had stopped in Buzzy’s after doing some fishing and as we talked he informed me that he had run a grocery store, the West River Market in Galesville, for 25 years. We chatted awhile and then he headed out.
The very next day however, John returned and presented me with the Buzzy photo above. I saw immediately that he had taken the photo when Buzzy’s was closed. (Sign off, blinds closed.) I also recognized immediately that he knew what he was doing photography-wise because it was such a great shot.
I tracked John down on a Facebook page “Galesville, Enough Said” and found an excellent post/story on him by Sherry Schiller (click here.) As for how John came to take over and run the store initially, Sherry had this to say about the store’s previous owner: “The proprietor of the supply store soon learned it was difficult to run a successful business from a bar stool, thus ending his business with a suspicious fire.” John took it over, renamed it West River Market and ran it for 25 years.

My thanks to John for the photo that I now have on display for all my Buzzy friends and visitors to see:

This past Saturday night at the Steelers’ – Bucs preseason game, Brady kept telling me about the playing of the song “Renegade” and how it always gets the Steelers crowd pumped up. We kept waiting for it, but as the forth quarter started Brady surmised, “Maybe they just do it for the regular season games when they need a boost.” And right then, the song began to play.
Here is my attempt at capturing Saturday night’s rendition of the tune on my cell phone camera.
Following my so-so effort, check out this video that does a much a better job capturing it in a mid-season, sold out game versus the Jets:
To learn the background and history of how Styx’s “Renegade” became such a fixture as a Steelers’ theme tune (click here.) And to think that I used to like that tune!
