Oyster Festival This Weekend

My friend Barbara Sopato has been coordinating and organizing this year’s Rotary Club Oyster Festival. If you are out and about, drop into the Fairgrounds and check it out either today or tomorrow.

Oysters and live music – how good does it get?!

Seeing a band named One Trick Pony (scheduled to play at 1 o’clock this afternoon) made me think of this great tune from Paul Simon. “He gives his testimony, then relaxes in the weeds. He’s got one trick to last a lifetime, but that’s all a pony needs” (1:56 mark.)

Big SEC showdown today: No. 5 Ole Miss takes on No.9 Georgia with kickoff set for 3:30. Game will be on the Buzzy Big Screen.

So here is the perfect day trip for you. Early on hit the Oyster Festival. Later, drive down to Buzzy’s to have some drinks and catch some of the SEC game. Then grab dinner at one of our three excellent restaurants down Wynne Road.

P.S. The over/under number of 57 in the Ole Miss-Georgia game seems a little high and appears to be a sucker bet. Well then, call me a sucker because I will go with the “it-is-easier-and-more-fun-to-root-for-points-than-it is-to-root-against-points” gambling theory. I am taking the over, but also like the Rebels to cover as a 7 point underdog. (I may even take a flyer on the Moneyline for them to win outright. Now that’s some gambling – even for a one trick pony!)

P.S. P.S. And speaking of oysters, music and fun, be sure to put 15 November on your calendar for Double TT’s annual shellabration:
