From the National Day Calendar folks, first let me acknowledge that I blew it last Friday when I totally overlooked it being National Pickle Day. I feel bad about that omission here on the Buzzyblog, but the bottom line is that I ultimately learned to dill with it. (Sorry.)

But regarding what is being celebrated today, I was a little surprised to see that even the Geographic Information Systems folks get their own day.

I only have one GIS joke. I would convey it to you, but I don’t know where it is.
All of which leads me to ask – how about a Country Store Owners day? When do the few of us who are still around get some love and recognition? Accordingly, I am contacting the National Day honchos to propose that 11 October be recognized as National Country Store Owners Day. (Free drink to any one who can guess why I chose that date.)
