A nice couple in Buzzy’s Country Store the other day mentioned that they were driving home for Christmas. It reminded me of one of my favorite Christmas tunes titled just that – Driving Home for Christmas by Chris Rea. (Remember that we Ridge boys are always suckers for a good car song.)
However, even though “Driving Home” is a great tune, unfortunately it seems to get lost among all the other Christmas classics that are overplayed so much at this time of year. Rick Beato lists his Top 21favorite Christmas songs (click here) and it is one of the more eclectic Christmas tune lists that I have seen. (For example, he has Coltrane doing “My Favorite Things” @ #19.)
However, even though Rick does include some surprise picks, overall he skews to listing many of the same old standards that we hear repeatedly to the point that we get tired of hearing them. (And no, Driving Home for Christmas does not appear on his list.)
Yet despite Driving Home for Christmas not getting much airplay and recognition here in the USA, over in the UK it ranks in their Top 10 Christmas tunes played each year (click here.)

Football Sunday today features several good match ups that should be fun to watch. We will have the Buzzy T-V cranked up to monitor all of the action. Accordingly, there will be no Christmas music played at Buzzy’s today.
