As I pulled into Buzzy’s Country Store Saturday morning, LP Mercure rolled in driving his Kubota. He directed me to view his cargo in the back – 3 dead deer.

LP told me how he had retrieved them from the woods near his home after his son Ray had shot them earlier. LP noted that it was easier for him to use the Kubota to get them out of the woods and he was now driving them down to Ray’s house located a mile below Buzzy’s. These were the first dead deer that I have seen or heard about this season, but they would not be the last.
Sunday morning, Clyde Ridgell was in Buzzy’s relating how he had helped Kole McKay get his first deer the previous night. Clyde provided me these photos:

To read a nice article on what it is like getting one’s first deer (click here.)
Music-wise, I found this Fun on the Ice tune from the movie Bambi. It was the first movie I ever saw in the old Plaza Movie Theater in Lexington Park.
Reminds me of a Brother Dave Gardner story about hunting deer (7:35 – 9:35.) (Note that I still have this album stashed in the milk crates in my attic.)
