Dean Man Talking

Speaking of religion (even if we were not doing so,) today is the first Sunday of the New Year, so let’s look at a recently released Netflix movie “Wake Up Dead Man: Knives Out.” The plot involves a young priest as a suspect in the murder of an older priest in a parish with lots of dark secrets. Here is the trailer for it:

Great cast:

As my friend Steve Raley noted in his text recommending that I watch this movie, “it has a little bit of everything except sex.” It includes political and religious themes such as faith, moral values, power and politics. (The politically-based look at the interactions between a cult leader and his followers, while funny at times, was a little too close for comfort in some other scenes.)

And amidst all that churn, the movie is an interesting who dunit murder mystery that will keep your interest for the two-plus hours that it plays out. It gets 5 plus, plus, plus, plus Buzzy stars.

The last regular season NFL Sunday starts off slowly today but gets good later. The regular season concludes tonite with the Ravens playing the Steelers in what is actually a playoff game: winner moves on, loser goes home.

At Buzzy’s Country Store we will have the Cowboys/Giants game on at 1:00 followed by Commanders/Eagles at 4:25. Come celebrate the New Year with us by watching some football! And if that’s not to your thing, check out the movie Wake Up Dead Man!

The following tune was featured in the Dead Man movie. Larry Norman is often referred to as the father of the genre known as Contemporary Christian Music.

Gambling-wise, with the loss of my two bets yesterday, I am going to resist the gambling urge of trying to get even today and take a pass. Overall for this football season, I am exactly even with my bookie and am trying not to end up owing her anything!
