February 26

Ah, yes February, my month and simultaneously my least favorite month of the year. However, February’s one redeeming value is that it does contain some birthdays of some pretty cool people. Make that “Cool” as in with below-freezing temps we are ALL pretty cool people!

Lisa Mercure celebrates on the 5th, Jennifer Adkins the 6th, Steve Elgersma the 8th, Linda Lepper the 10th, Rachel Miller the 12th, Cousin Lorraine Teefey the 17th, Chris McKay and my nephew JC Hofmeister the 19th, Pat Stover the 20th, my Father-in-law Sol Aroesty on the 21st, Brianna Warren on the 21st, my nephew Stephen Taylor on the 27th; and Pat Guy the 28th. I turn 75 on the 12th and hopefully will be celebrating doing so someplace warm. I say hopefully because at this age one never knows what tomorrow, or for that matter what today, may bring. Taking it one at a time baby!

Grammy Awards Show is set for tonight and Kendrick Lamar leads the nominee list with 9 entries, 3 of which are for this update of an old Luther tune. (I guess the official term is “a sample” which is a nice way of saying a ripoff, of an old Luther tune.) However, it was very nice of Kendrick to give Luther some recognition and love. To hear that original tune by Luther (click here.) Note that Luther was accompanied by Cheryl Lynn while Kendrick features a lady named SZA.

For Bill Maher’s take from 3 years ago on little-known-Grammy-awards, check this out, specifically the “Best Duet With Some Old Guy You Assumed Was Dead (2:00.)
