Seen in San Diego

Tony Bennett died from Alzheimer’s. Folks began worrying about him when he started singing that he had left his heart in San Diego.

As Pam and I headed to BWI last week, temps were at -1 wind chill and Baltimore was experiencing 40 mph gusts. We worried about delays in our flight to San Diego, but were very relieved when we checked in to see two of the better words when traveling – on time!)

Sign of Relief

Once in SD, we made it to the Sheraton at Harbor Island with these views from our 9th floor room overlooking the harbor. (Harbor Island is a man-made peninsula jutting out into the San Diego Bay.)

With her fiancé Ben at work, daughter Reagan gave us a tour of places south of San Diego. During one of our stops, I took this selfie of the two of us on a very windy Coronado Beach. Pt. Loma is in the background and the life guard’s station is just behind us.

Don’t believe that the life guard had much to do however, because this sign was posted as you walked onto the Coronado Beach area.

We caught Sunday’s Super Bowl in a noisy bar in Harbor Island. (My apologies to Stephen Stills, and his “noisy bar in Avalon” which is located north of San Diego on Catalina Island.)

Reagan and Ben

On Monday, Reagan and Ben toured us thru the northern suburbs of San Diego to include Oceanside, Carlsbad, Cardiff and La Jolla. (We had visited Pt. Loma with them on a previous trip here to the area.) Some scenes from our bopping around these areas:

In Oceanside we visited the San Luis Rey Mission. Couple photos here:

Here is a short video I made as we cruised past the Oceanside pier:

Adhering to the 3 day rule, on Tuesday Pam and I said goodbye to Reagan, Ben and San Diego and headed on to Honolulu. I will have more to say on that in a day or two. However, now that I am 75 years old, I am going to take my time and go a little slower.

Music-wise, because you are already very familiar with Tony’s version of this classic tune, check out Bobby Womack’s cover of it with a little George Benson twist thrown in for good measure:
