In this week’s Buzzy podcast, Chief Larry and I are doing some traveling via the stories told to us by Bob Simmons. Listen below to hear how Bob and two of his buddies spent 5 months touring all 49 of our continental United States as well as several Canadian provinces.
This map shows their overall trip starting in Richmond and working their way north before continuing west.
After visiting Alaska via the ALCAN (Alaska-Canadian) Highway, they went down our West Coast and then headed back East via a southern route across the US.

I have met several folks who have visited all 50 States at one time or another. That said, I have not met any who have undertaken trying to visit all 49 States during one extended road trip. Thus, I got to believe that Bob, JB and George are in a very select minority of people to have ever done that!
Musically, Linda did a nice job singing about being back and traveling in the USA, but Chuck’s original is still tops. Found this colorized copy of the album cover that Dick is referencing in his intro below.
