Twofer Tuesday features another great songwriting duo – Leiber and Stoller.

The title of their autobiography was Hound Dog. Check Elvis here in this video doing the song on the Steve Allen show. Elvis was quoted as saying that it was his most embarrassing TV appearance (click here.) Doesn’t look like the dog enjoyed it much either.
Mike Stoller is still doing it having just finished composing the musical score for the Broadway musical Beaches. Bette Midler starred in the 1988 movie and performed this tune. It won Grammys for Song and Record of the Year in 1989.
