Some photographic history came to me when walking the streets of Philadelphia last Friday afternoon. This street marker caught my eye:

Daguerreotype was the first form of photography and was invented by Louis Daguerre.
Saxton was a prolific inventor who began experimenting with the Daguerreotype photo process in 1839 when he took the above photo. His work paved the way for others to continue to refine and “develop” the camera/photo process. Bet they never anticipated that today we would be using a phone to take photos!
The photo of the High School is currently owned by the Historial Society of Pennsylvania. I was unable to find out if it is on display anywhere.

Buzzy used to stock film for sale in a glass case that sat atop the candy case. And yes, I recall him having Kodachrome in his inventory. I still have the glass case stashed away in the storage room. Maybe I should resurrect it and stock some phone accessories in it to sell.
