From a book titled Chesapeake – Fact, Fiction & Fun: “Nubile Crab: Several large virile male crabs “jimmies” are placed into a galvanized wire mesh trap of a cubical shape called a “pot.” Gullible virgin female crabs “sookies” desiring a personal relationship are enticed into the trap. This is a practical operation only during the spring and early summer, and is very popular all over the Bay.”
