Penny Candy – Pt 2

I’ve talked before (click here) about penny candy in Buzzy’s Country Store but here’s another candy anecdote that gave me pause about getting older.

Whenever I inform kids that I have penny candy, the response I usually receive back is “What’s that?”  I’ll tell them to ask their parents who usually smile and say something along the lines “I remember going to the store and buying penny candy when I was a kid your age.”

The other day however the scenario played out a little differently as a Grandmother, daughter and young boy were in the store.  When I told the little boy I had penny candy, his Mom was the one who asked “What’s that?”  Grandma then was the one who went on to explain what it was.  I just frowned thinking – I really am getting old!
