“Your Daddy’s Love Comes With a Lifetime Guarantee”

When I was in Honolulu last May my daughter Ryan gave me a copy of Sade’s Soldier of Love CD.  I had heard the Babyfather song (video below) and liked it particularly the line about a Daddy’s love having a lifetime guarantee.  As for the rest of the CD, Ryan warned me that it was something “You have to listen to it a couple of times before it ropes you in.”
Now I see where Sade’s CD is included in one music critic’s list of the best in 2010 click here. Made me smile for two reasons: 1) it reminded me of Ryan and 2) Sade and Kanye West were the only two artists cited on the list that I’d even heard of!  (And as for Kayne he’s one that I wish I hadn’t heard of!)
So the other night driving home from the Store in freezing icy, post-snow weather I played Sade and immediately called Ryan thinking she’d warm me up with her updates on either being out surfing or sitting on the North Shore watching the Pipeline competition.  (Plus the annual Eddie competition is set to go any day now.)
Turns out that Ryan was in Alaska as part of her job with Chaminade University. Good news for her is that she would be heading back in a couple days to Honolulu whereas it looks like we’re in for a cold 3 months of winter here on the mainland.  See if this video doesn’t warm you up a little though.  (If you don’t want to listen to the whole song, the “Daddy love line” is at the 2:22 mark.)
