I saw a quote that compared something to the weather: changes constantly but in the long term basically stays the same. Got me thinking about businesses – country stores and otherwise.
When I was a kid growing up in Buzzy’s Country Store it was a real deal general store that sold hardware, clothing, groceries, gasoline etc.. Through the years as things changed, Buzzy converted it over into more of a liquor store/bar type operation. Buzzy’s then is still a Country Store but one that has friends and visitors coming in to drink a round or two.
Along those lines, another business operation I admire is how the Bowles have managed to transform their farm into the successful operation that it is today. They feature all sorts of fun activities, events and products and have done a great job changing with the times. Check out their website http://www.bowlesfarms.com/
Yesterday I attended a Beverage Board meeting at Dent’s General Store in Tall Timbers click here. Every time I go into Dent’s I am impressed at how well Andy and David Dent run their business. With the deli, the bar and a huge inventory of groceries and liquor, theirs’ is a true general store that pretty much has everything you need. It also features some of the best stuffed ham you’ll find anywhere.
Finally, here’s a store website I enjoy checking out – Zeb’s General Store located in New Hampshire. It features all sorts of good things ranging from maple syrup to moose products click here for website. Their video follows:
