Good article in yesterday’s Baltimore Sun discussing the state of our crabbing industry click here. With my son Shea a member of the 14% of all crabbers being under the age of 40, I’m naturally interested and maybe even a little concerned about this topic. The waterman’s life is such a tough way to make a living. Read the article and you will see that in addition to it being hard work, there are a host of other issues surrounding the industry. (I particularly liked the Bunky Chance quote on watermen not being able to work together “Our biggest obstacle to reaching our goals has been a lack of working together. The independence that has been our strength is our weakness.“ Makes you wonder about how many of your perceived strengths in life are also your greatest weaknesses.)
