Couple St. Mary’s College students were in Buzzy’s Country Store the other day discussing the upcoming move of the Margaret Brent building scheduled for tonite at mid-night (click here for press release.) (The college couple are planning to party thru the process.) If I thought that I could stay awake that long I’d try to attend.
But I do have to confess that the only reason I would be attending, like alot of those NASCAR fans there awaiting the cars to wreck, would be to see the building collapse. However, the company doing the move has relocated lots of old brick buildings and lighthouses to include the Hatteras Lighthouse in 1999 (click here and scroll down to Historical) so it seems that they know what they’re doing.
But then there is the whole issue and question as to why are they even messing with spending all that money to relocate a boring 1951 brick building in the first place?! Stay tuned.
