Bungee Bridge

Buzzy at Victoria Falls
Bungee Jumper off Zambia Bridge

When I saw the video (below) about the young lady’s bungee cord breaking, I immediately recognized the location.  Buzzy and I visited there in 1999 when we toured Victoria Falls as part of our trip to South Africa click here.  The falls are situated between Zimbabwe and Zambia.  After doing a walking tour of the falls on the Zimbabwe side, our tour guide told us we could either return to the hotel directly or we could cross the border into Zambia where we would have our passports stamped and then cross back into Zimbabwe.  Buzzy and I took the Zambia detour and came upon the bungee jumping operation off of the Zambia Bridge that connects the two countries.  (If you look closely at my picture above, you’ll see a bungee jumper dangling in the middle of the shot.)  As we got closer and watched the folks preparing to and actually making the jump Buzzy commented “Looks like a rag tag operation to me.  You’d never get me to trust those boys to strap me in that thing and jump.”  I agreed completely and said “Hell, I wouldn’t do it even if it looked like they had their act together.”
