This week’s County Times newspaper discusses the County’s role in the War of 1812.  It made me think about the marker that I see as I ride my bike onto St. George’s Island.  

I knew that the marker talked about us preventing the Brits from landing but I had never read the small print.  Had I done so, I would have known that the marker refers to us kicking the Brits’ butts back in 1776 clickhere.  These Brits must have been slow learners to have kept messing with us.
