St. Mary's College Writers' Conference

Couple of attendees to the ongoing College Writers’ Conference click here for more info were in Buzzy’s Country Store last night purchasing materials to enhance their conference experience if you know what I mean. 



The Conference concludes tonite. I checked out some of the speakers listed above and found this poem from Elizabeth Arnold  who spoke at Thursday night’s session of the Conference.  Think Phil Collins (previous post) and I know just what she’s talking about here.   

Epic Simile
Just as planets move in relation to each other
through the dark,
the air between them
too thin to survive
yet tensed against their pulling,
or continents of night
revolving,
joinable, if ever,
by frail tunnels disappearing into
multiplying folds of space;
so we move, rooms
or inches from each other as if hope of light were over
