Buzzy’s on the Map

In Wednesday’s Enterprise, Bob Elwood discussed in his letter that the County now has a website where you can check on what’s going where development-wise (click here to access it.)

If you click on the Red House farthest south on the map you’ll find my approved permit for an addition to Buzzy’s Country Store.

My plan was to build an addition on the west side of the Store and combine two  small apartments into one bigger apartment.  I started pursuing this a couple years back but the permit just expired on 30 April of this year so I won’t be adding on.  Explains why the Development Map shows it as closed.

The corner of the Store that I was thinking about adding on to has seen some changes through the years.  As a kid, I remember it being where Buzzy had clothing, hip boots, hardware and all sorts of dusty things for sale.

Later Buzzy cleared all that out and put a pool table there along with fishing supplies.  He eventually turned the space into an apartment following a suggestion I made as a joke.

He had just advertised in the Enterprise for a vacant apartment he had for rent.  When he informed me that he’d had over 20 inquiries about it on the morning that it was advertised in the paper, I joked with him “You ought to convert the whole front part of the Store into apartments because everyone just hangs out here at the counter anyway.”  He laughed but a little later he called me and said, “Hey I’ve been playing with your idea and I figured out how I can make the pool table area into an apartment.”
So, full circle, here I am many years later considering bringing that area back as part of the Store.  As for what I’ll do there I haven’t figured it out yet.  Someone suggested it’d make a nice place for a strippers’ pole.  Maybe that Red House business makes sense eh?  Just don’t tell my Mom.
