Just the other day, someone asked me “You still got the dog?” After I responded “Yes,” she turned to her son and said “I remember being your age and coming into this Store and them having this big dog.”
This scene plays out quite frequently in Buzzy’s Country Store, particularly in summer time when tourists and campers are down visiting at Pt. Lookout State Park. Having run the Store six years now, it still makes me smile whenever folks come into the Store and mention Bruno and their first time encountering a St. Bernard in Buzzy’s. (I’ve previously discussed how Bruno came to be a fixture at Buzzy’s (click here.)
Couple of Bruno-related items for you then. The first is the logo of Griffith Oil Company which operates in the D.C. area. The other day, Pam and I passed one of their trucks heading up 301 and this logo caught my eye. Look closer and you will see that the cask around the dog’s neck is labelled “Oil.” Maybe I’ll nick that idea with a Bruno logo and featuring a “Beer” cask. The second item is a mock magazine cover that step-daughter and Bruno #8 caretaker Jennifer has created. You know what video had to follow it of course.
