Picked up the Grandkids yesterday evening following their weekend with their Mom. Somewhere in the conversation on the ride home to the Point, they began discussing their Halloween costumes. Shawn proclaimed “I’ve already got mine.” I replied “God bless the child who’s got his own.” The irony of my saying this to my grandson dawned on me: I recalled first hearing this said by my Grandfather Harry Raley to my brother Steve and me when we were coming along. I never knew until years later that it was a song title.
Then, just today I saw where a new play “Lady Day” about Billie Holiday is set to open (click here.) She wrote and recorded this song:
