Pete's Seat

Duncan, David Norris and Pete in His Seat Celebrating His Birthday

In a previous post I referenced Pete Peterson and his stool in Buzzy’s.  (I ran a video on Norm from Cheers always laying claim to a seat at the corner of the bar not unlike Pete who always sat on the stool at the end of the bar nearest the counter.)

Whenever Pete would roll into Buzzy’s, any of the regulars who happened to be camped out on his stool would give it up and let Pete have his seat.  Should anyone not do so, Pete would simply stand in front of them until they moved.  He rarely had to say anything as most folks figured out that they were in his seat.   (Linda Lepper tells me however, that she would occasionally remain  in Pete’s seat but he would never bother her about moving.  So maybe Pete wasn’t as rigid about his seat as we thought.)

The oft-told story of Pete socking Bobby Cook had nothing to do with Bobby being in Pete’s seat.  Bobby mistakenly put a cigarette in the beer that Pete was drinking and when Pete found out,  down went Cook.

(Above picture was taken as part of Pete’s birthday celebration on 24 February 1999(?) and  seeing those old sunglasses displays reminded me that I should probably re-stock some.)
