Hores and Shores

Brian Barnhill sent me the following:

Reminded me of a paper I once wrote as part of an environmental class I took at St. Mary’s College.  My topic was the preservation of our shorelines.  I wrote out my thoughts long hand and then proceeded to type up my report on an old, portable Remington typewriter that barely worked.

After I finished typing the report, I proof read it and was surprised to learn that the “s” key on my typewriter was somehow inserting a “w” instead of an “s.”  (I may have just been incorrectly hitting “w” too, so I can’t entirely blame the typewriter here.)

Thus, my paper went something along the lines: “Our whorelines are very fragile.  After many years of serving us socially, culturally and financially, our whorelines are now being threatened by a number of factors.  Preservation of our whorelines is critical and should be made a priority.”  And so on.

Speaking of horses and accidents, here’s a video making the rounds of an accident at a New Jersey harness racing track.  One of the commentators was quick to note that Jersey Governor Chris Christie has already issued a denial saying he did not have anything to do with it.
